"Plans have been revealed for 245 homes to help meet Cornwall's "demand for affordable homes". The site is 1km from the north of Wadebridge centre and was given outline planning consent in 2022.
Behind the plans are Vistry Group, which calls itself the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure affordable homes, and LiveWest, the South West affordable housing provider. Operating as a 50/50 Joint Venture, they will bring 50 per cent affordable homes as part of the development - 30 per cent allocated to locals by Section 106 agreement and an additional 20 per cent affordable homes supported by Homes England grant."
[Not in Wadebridge!!! - Have a guess?]
Some context
In 2021 there were: 3,450 dwellings, up 9.5% on the 3,151 in 2011;
3,150 occupied dwellings, up 6.6% on the 2,955 in 2011;
295 unoccupied dwellings, up 50.5% on the 196 in 2021.
There are 228 holiday cottages currently available in the area.
A question that could be asked is - do we need to build more dwellings in Wadebridge - of which 122 will NOT BE affordable, or reduce the number of unoccupied dwellings?
And why of the 123 affordables are only 74 for local residents?
